Perched above the Rhône Valley, Haute-Nendaz combines the scale of a major ski area with the charm of a human-sized Valais resort. People come here to ski in the 4 Quatre Vallées, but also for the scenery, off-piste activities and those late afternoons when the mountains turn gold.

An ideal gateway to the 4 Quatre Vallées

The Nendaz area gives access to the vast territory of the 4 Quatre Vallées, linked in particular to Verbier, Veysonnaz and Thyon. With more than 400 kilometers of slopes advertised across the area, days can easily change scenery without ever taking the car.

Beginners will find gentler areas to build confidence, while the red runs let intermediate skiers string together long descents. More experienced skiers have technical sectors and high-mountain routes where conditions call for caution and preparation.

Mont-Fort, the highlight of the stay

At 3 330 meters above sea level, Mont-Fort is one of the major landmarks of the 4 Quatre Vallées. In clear weather, the view stretches to several iconic Alpine peaks, including the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and the Dent Blanche.

The area naturally attracts experienced skiers and freeride enthusiasts. Away from the marked runs, the guidance of a professional and checking the avalanche bulletin remain essential: the beauty of the terrain should never make you forget the demands of the high mountains.

In Haute-Nendaz, the day is not just about how many runs you ski: it is above all the changing light and the vast panorama that stay in your memory.

Leaving the skis without leaving the mountain

A toboggan run

To change things up, toboggan runs provide immediate and accessible thrills. Conditions and openings vary with snow cover: it is always best to check with the resort before setting off.

The zip line above the peaks

The zip line adds a dose of adrenaline to the stay. Suspended above the landscape, you discover the terrain from a radically different angle. The activity depends on the weather and runs according to a fixed schedule: booking is recommended.

Exploring the silence on snowshoes

Snowshoeing offers a different relationship with the mountain. The pace slows, the resort noises fade away and the routes cross forests, clearings and snow-covered alpine pastures. It is also an excellent option when part of the group does not ski.

An outing late in the day lets you enjoy the colors of sunset, provided you plan the return in advance, stay on open trails and have suitable equipment. In the mountains, even an accessible walk deserves a check of the weather and conditions.

Rediscovering the Valais atmosphere

Haute-Nendaz retains a friendly atmosphere despite the scale of its ski area. Chalets, terraces and good restaurants make up the après-ski, along with regional classics such as raclette, fondue, cured meat and Valais wines.

This food and wine dimension perfectly balances active days. A shared plate facing the mountains is a reminder that the stay is as much about the table as it is about the slopes.

Haute-Nendaz in practice

  • Access: the resort can be reached from Sion by road and public transport.
  • For whom? Skiers of different levels, families and travelers who want to alternate skiing and nature.
  • To book: lift passes, lessons, the zip line and certain guided activities during busy periods.
  • To check: weather, snow conditions, lift openings and avalanche conditions before each outing.
  • To bring: sunscreen, several layers and good shoes for non-ski activities.

Why choose Haute-Nendaz in winter?

The resort brings together many things without imposing a single pace: direct access to a major ski area, activities for snow-free days, high-mountain scenery and a true local culture. You can come here looking for performance, a family break or simply a few days in the fresh air.

Haute-Nendaz is especially appealing for this balance. The morning belongs to the slopes, the afternoon can continue on snowshoes or toboggan, and the evening brings everyone back around a warm table. A complete Alpine getaway, without needing to overdo it.
