Wooden cottages with jacuzzis and views over the Semois: create a family stay combining comfort, local produce, and Ardennes heritage.

Perched above a famous bend in the Semois, Rochehaut offers an ideal base camp for bringing several generations together. The wooden cottages of Rochehaut Cottages Valley provide the space and independence of a house, while the surrounding area offers plenty of family-friendly outings.

Choosing the right cottage for your group

The estate has eight cottages with two to five double bedrooms. The layouts can accommodate four to ten people, with a bathroom for each bedroom in most of the accommodations. To avoid unpleasant surprises, check the bedding and the number of sleeping places in the cottage you choose precisely.

Each house has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a wood-burning stove, a terrace, a fenced garden and a private outdoor jacuzzi. Reversible air conditioning makes it suitable for both a winter stay and a summer week.

The practical comfort of a holiday home

For a family or a group of friends, the main appeal lies in the independence. You can cook on site, share the living room and let the children enjoy the fenced garden. The beds are made on arrival, but bath towels are not included by default according to the current conditions.

The jacuzzi is a relaxation facility, not an unsupervised pool. Follow the estate rules, keep an eye on children and adapt the duration and temperature to the people present.

A local-flavour table in the heart of the village

La Taverne de Rochehaut offers brasserie-style cuisine focused on local produce and products from the estate's livestock farms. Its location in the centre of the village makes it easy to combine a meal with the viewpoint over Frahan.

This popular address has varying opening periods. Check the official calendar and then book, especially for a group or during school holidays.

Cross the Semois via the Épine footbridge

The Épine suspension footbridge adds a touch of adventure to a forest walk. However, the route, the elevation gain and the condition of the trails should be adapted to the age of the children and the weather.

After rain, the paths in the valley can become slippery. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and use an up-to-date hiking map rather than relying on a simple estimate of the distance.

Take in the views around Bouillon

The Bouillon belvedere overlooks the town and its bend in the river. Access to the platform requires climbing a long wooden structure: check the opening conditions on site and turn back if the weather or fear of heights makes the climb uncomfortable.

Bouillon Castle

Standing above the Semois, the fortified castle lets you explore nearly a thousand years of history. The site is associated with Godfrey of Bouillon and can now be visited through routes whose content and activities change throughout the season.

Uneven ground, staircases and narrow passages are part of the experience. Check the official opening hours, arrive early enough before the last admission time and bring suitable footwear.

Preparing your stay in Rochehaut

  • Capacity: choose the cottage according to the actual number of bedrooms and guests, from 4 to 10 people.
  • What to bring: check the kitchen consumables and reserve towels if you do not want to bring your own.
  • Jacuzzi: children remain under the constant supervision of an adult and the estate's instructions take precedence.
  • Meals: plan groceries or catering in advance and book restaurants for large groups.
  • Hiking: check the weather, trail markers and route difficulty before setting off with young children.
  • Bouillon: check the seasonal opening hours of the castle and attractions before traveling.

A stay that truly brings people together

Rochehaut Cottages Valley is especially suitable for groups who want to share their days without giving up their own space. Everyone can choose between a walk, heritage or rest, before getting together around the stove or on the terrace.

The Semois landscape sets the tone: it is better to plan few stops, remain mindful of distances and leave real room for time spent together.
