Val d’Arimont: a nature stay at the gates of Malmedy
Cottages, rooms, pools and RAVeL: discover Val d’Arimont and plan your outings between Malmedy and the High Fens.
Away from the center of Malmedy, Val d’Arimont extends into a wooded valley crossed by a stream. The estate makes it possible to combine independent accommodation, on-site activities, and outings to the Hautes Fagnes, without imposing the same pace on couples, families, and groups.
Cottage, room, loft or villa
The 36 cottages accommodate two to twelve people and are suitable for travelers who want a kitchen and living space. The layouts vary according to capacity: check the number of bedrooms, stairs, terrace, and amenities before choosing.
The hotel has eight rooms and a loft, suited to shorter stays or travelers who do not want to cook. A villa for ten people completes the offer for groups. Dogs are stated as allowed in the cottages and the villa, but the conditions and supplements should be checked when booking.
Alternating activities and relaxation on-site
Residents have access to a heated indoor pool and, in season, an outdoor pool whose opening depends on the weather. The estate also offers tennis, mini-golf, ping-pong, a multisports court, and a playground.
Tennis and mini-golf equipment can be requested at reception; booking is recommended in high season. The indoor pool is normally accessible all year round, except during the annual closure. Check the estate’s opening hours and rules when you arrive.
Walk or cycle from the estate
Several marked walks start directly from Val d’Arimont. The estate also connects to the RAVeL 45, a cycling route linking Malmedy, Waimes, and Stavelot in particular. Standard and electric bikes are available to rent, subject to availability.
For a first outing, ask reception for advice on distance, elevation gain, and trail conditions. In the Hautes Fagnes, the weather can change quickly and some areas are temporarily closed to protect the natural environment.
Take a break at the brasserie
The estate brasserie lets you eat without getting back in the car. The menu and opening hours change: reserve your table and check the current menu, especially on weekends or during school holidays.
Extend the day in the Hautes Fagnes
Near the Signal de Botrange, Belgium Peak Beer brews its beers with water from the region and welcomes visitors in its tasting area. Guided production tours are by reservation and subject to group conditions.
The brewery currently offers four routes adapted after the summer fires 2026. Some sections are muddy, slippery, or technical. Download the most recent version of the route and strictly respect the posted closures.
A more sporty option at Liège Airport
For a complete change of scenery, Flyin Liège offers a free-fall simulator at Liège Airport. Its tunnel is 17 meters high and 5,2 meters in diameter. The activity is noticeably farther from the estate and therefore deserves half a day set aside for it.
Check the physical requirements, minimum age, arrival time, and clothing instructions before booking. This outing is not a Val d’Arimont activity and requires its own transportation.
Preparing your stay at Val d’Arimont
- Address: Chemin du Val 30, 4960 Malmedy.
- Accommodation: choose according to the actual capacity, kitchen, and accessibility you want.
- Pools: check the opening hours; the outdoor pool operates in season and depending on the weather.
- Sports: book equipment at reception during busy periods.
- Bicycle: confirm bike availability before departure.
- Hautes Fagnes: check temporary closures and stay on authorized paths.
An easy stay to adapt
The first day can be devoted entirely to the estate: settling in, a walk, the pool, then dinner at the brasserie. The next day, choose between Malmedy, a bike ride, or a hike in the Hautes Fagnes rather than multiplying trips.
This flexibility is the real strength of Val d’Arimont. The stay works just as well in self-catering mode in a cottage as it does as a short hotel stay, with enough alternatives to suit the season and the weather.
